Christian Community

Post by Güney27 »

I wanted to share this interesting conversation.
Jonathan is a priest in a church based on the teachings of anthroposophy.

I didn’t knew that there is a church like that without dogma .

Has anyone ever came across this so called ,,Christian Community,,?

Thanks, Guney. I've heard of it but am not familiar with its specifics or how it functions today. In general, I have been pretty hesitant to join any particular Church community in my area. On the one hand, I feel like I need to purify my soul life more and 'work my way up' to such devotional practices in a public space. On the other, I am worried about getting entangled in a Church community that is steeped in modern habits and that I would quickly lose interest in participating.

The CC sounds like a nice alternative, but just like the Anthroposophical Society in general, there may be a significant divergence between its original ideal and its practical functioning today. Are you thinking about attending services in your area? If so, it would be great to hear about your experience.

Ashvin,
I don’t see a point to do the purification work in a public place.
CC seems to be like a theological system grounded in the anthroposophical understanding of Christ.
It’s possibly helpful to cultivate devotional feelings in one’s soul, but I don’t think that this is the route i want to go down now.

I find Jung’s work quite helpful, because it really helps me to understand the human consciousness (soul) as a depth structure. It helps to cure the apex view of consciousness I have build trough life.

There is a congregation where I live and I have been attending on and off over the last few months. It is very small with perhaps 10-15 people attending on a given Sunday. The service is highly liturgical. Compared to my former evangelical church, there seems to be little emphasis upon greeting people and making them feel welcome. But that may be just a function of the small numbers and the personalities contained therein. During my attendance, I feel myself vacillating between feeling at home within the esoteric Christianity and then feeling uncomfortable when it sounds too Christian.

Not exactly about the Christian Community, but I have stumbled upon this channel, about the Christology of Rudolf Steiner, in case it may interest someone, with various anthroposophical small-group disussions.
