This may be apropos here ...

Here out of instinct or grace we seek
soulmates in these galleries of hieroglyph and glass,
where mutual longings and sufferings of love
are laid bare in transfigured exhibition of our hearts,
we who crave deep secrets and mysteries,
as elusive as the avatars of our dreams.

White lion priestess Linda Tucker is truly quite the eloquent and profound speaker on behalf of the mythical, mystical lion-hearted archetype now roaring out to be re-imagined within a newborn paradigm ...

Yikes Dana. I think you are my favorite curator of videos, as so many arrive serendipitously with where my tale has been recently wandering. Thank you!

The lion video, the Jan van der Greef video, and, now, as I'm writing this post, you post a video with Linda Tucker, all of which seem perfectly aligned with the intuitive sensibility I've been trying to express here at the forum.

A deep bow of gratitude to you!

Well, well, well ... Dana,

I just listened to the complete Linda Tucker video I've got to say that I did not align well with its format or style, even as I grokked the symbolism, the style of meditation and the good intention involved in her Lionhearted approach. On balance, I vastly preferred the original For the Wild podcast that I had posted in order to connect with my questing for notions of citizenship with all beings. Also, thinking about the video of the farmer with the visiting lion family it seemed a bit too cuddly for me. It made me wonder if these might have been lions from the captive breeding programs designed to produce animals for petting zoos. I don't know this for a fact but they simply did not feel like lions that had somehow wandered in from a wild pride in the bush. Bottom line, I don't think either video grappled with dissolving the Nature/Culture dichotomy, presenting the indigenous view or dealt with citizenship with all beings.

OTOH, I loved the Essentia presentation with Professor Jan van der Greef, which produced so many resonances in me that I'd like to watch it a few more times and then comment in a separate post.

Well, well, well ... Lou

There were other talks and interviews with LT that reiterated and vehemently denounced the capturing and killing of wild lions, within a nature/culture paradigm that is based in resource exploitation for human greed and pleasure-seeking. And as long as that paradigm remains the predominant ethos, there will be no real solution to that abuse, since for every poacher that is caught and put out of business, there'll be an endless supply of others to take their place. But alas, neither is there any going back to the in-the-wild relationship/paradigm of indigenous ancestors, as that world, and the stage-specific human consciousness that inhabited it are now gone. This leaves the question of what kind of re-imagined novel nature><culture paradigm will evolve to become the basis of a collective ethos that is not about abusive resource exploitation, in view of a shift into the next stage of consciousness on a collective scale ~ that Barfield, Gebser, and others speak to ~ as seemingly evidenced by our new-breed great grandchildren emerging within this never-before-seen age? Is this not what LT is attempting to address in the above video, rather than some rear-view mirror revisiting of stage-specific paradigms whose time have come and gone? I'm not sure that her re-imagined vision is necessarily one that can or will be adopted en masse as the difference that will make a difference. Perhaps there are more plausible visions. I'm certainly open to hearing them.

I agree that this is the question. I framed it as a question of the third leg of the stool of Consciousness, Civilization and Citizenship. I know that LT is very opposed to the capturing and killing of wild lions, poaching, petting zoos, etc, all of which raise the question of the relationship between the individual and the system or citizenship. I also know that we are not going back to earlier times. So, how now? One possible approach to this was developed by the Buddhist eco-philosopher activist Joanna Macy, which she calls "the work that reconnects." My disappointment in the video is that it seems missing the questions posed in the podcast, which point at the the relations of individuals and systems. Citizenship.

Here's a concrete example of Indigenous Voices for Decolonized Futures drawn from the Klamath-Siskiyou biome that was my own eco-home during the times of my own activism. This is surely completely compatible with the good works of Linda Tucker, which is based in a protected Biosphere Reserve involving indigenous people who were her teachers. It is the working together, the praxis of dissolving false dichotomies of separate nature and culture, that I'm calling citizenship.
